Avalanche safety system "Lauchernalp", Switzerland

In order to control the avalanches at the "Lötschentalstrasse" between Kippel and Wiler, a controlled avalanche release unit with explosive charges was installed at the start zones on the "Märwiggrat" at "Hockenhorn". An Avalanche Master and an Avalanche Guard with 3 cabinets is controlling a total of 4 target points. The detonations are initiated by computer from the office at the "Wiler-Lauchernalp" tram.

An Avalanche Pipe with 4 target points at the "Hohfluh" supplements the avalanche control at the "Hohfluh".
