Avalanche safety system along the road "Zürs - Lech" Austria

The L 197 Arlberg road and the L 198 Lechtal road lead from the Klostertal in the direction of the Lechtal and Arlberg Pass, respectively, and pass through alpine terrain. Both roads are important connections to the Land Tyrol and ensure access to the villages of Stuben, Lech and Zürs. In case of heavy snowfalls, individual road sections and thereby the traffic participants and clearing personnel are endangered by naturally departing avalanches. A total of 8 stationary avalanche blasters have been erected in exposed locations to protect the first road section between the Flexen Pass and the village of Lech. Additionally, the area of the Omeshorn avalanche is monitored by an avalanche radar.
